For the 1970 basketball season, the Topps card company released a set of cards that will forever be cherished by collectors. The 1970-71 basketball card set was filled with hall-of-fame players, valuable rookies, short-prints, and brightly-colored cards that immediately drew the attention of collectors.

The 1970-71 Topps Basketball Card Set

In 1969, the Topps card company opted to increase the size of their basketball cards from 2.5" by 3.5" to a size of 2.5" by 4 11/16". For the 1970-71 basketball card season, Topps continued with the oversized cards.

As detailed on Super70s.com, the 1970 basketball cards were distributed in 10-cent wax packs that held 10 cards and a fold-out action poster featuring one of several different star players. The 1970-71 set contains 175 cards with All-Star, League Leader, and Playoff subsets. Several cards were short-printed, making it difficult to complete the set by purchasing wax packs.
